The Story of "Shine the Light, Aurora"
"Shine the Light, Aurora" is a song written by Steve Grissette, aka Mac180.
After reconnecting with his old childhood friend, Richard Irvin, the Mayor of Aurora, Illinois, Steve was inspired to write an original poem entitled, "Shine the Light, Aurora" in honor of his hometown. Touched by the inspiring words in the poem, the Mayor requested that Steve turn the poem into a song.
The Mac180 Band performed the song on March 5th at the Mayor's Annual State of The City address. In the wake of the Pratt shooting in Aurora on February 15th, the song carried a new meaning as its words of healing and renewal struck a resounding chord with the citizens of Aurora.
